A 'Timeless' Layout

For today's project, I went back to my roots. My love for scrapbooking & crafting all began some 20+ years ago with layouts! I started documenting photos from events that were meaningful to me up to that time & from there I slowly evolved to card making, stamping, making mini albums, incorporating different mediums such as embossing & paints...the rest is history.

I made a page with the lovely 'Timeless' collection by Authentique. What I love most about black & white collections is the the ability to add splashes of any color to make the projects 'pop'. I added splashes of red & holographic effects.

This pre-made layout is available for sale in my Etsy shop, 'The Midnight Kraft Desk'. 

The large circular flourish seen behind the photos mats is cut from an acetate special texture page.  The photo mats are made with both holographic & black card stock. These photo mats are for storing photos measuring up to 3" x 4" inches.  For display purposes I've temporarily placed 3" x 4" inch cut apart cards from the collection on the photo mats.

The title of my page has a holographic effect as well.  I've had this title in my stash for many years.

The embellishments used on this page are a combination of vines, fabric flowers, mulberry paper flowers, a mini wooden white fence, a mini bird's nest, a resin bird & a small glass bottle filled with holographic chunky glitter.

In this photo you can see the small glass bottle.  The bottle is decorated with lace & black & white twine.

I've also included a large stick pin & a black & white appliqué.  A large white doily further decorates the background of my page.

I've designed this page so that two 3" x 4" inch photos can slide behind all the embellishments & adhered to the photo mats. 

Behind the two photo mats there's a white wax pocket. This pocket stores six cut apart cards from the collection. I included this pocket to as a place for storing journaling, thoughts, dates or more photos.  This pocket can store 3" x 4" inch cards and/or photos.

An 'All Star - Dance' Pop Up Star Mini Album With Tutorial

For today's post, I'm revisiting the 'Pop Up Star Mini Album' that I made a few months ago with the 'Purebred Pets' collection by Authentique--you can find my original post here.

This time, I've used the 'All Star - Dance' collection for this project. I felt the 'pop up' element for this album went along nicely with the dance theme of the paper collection. I was also able to provide a tutorial on making the pages for this album. You'll find the link to the tutorial at the end of this post.

This style of mini album is meant to be on display on a shelf, desk or table--but it can also be stored closed.

The album measures 7 1/2" x 6 3/4" inches when closed. Since it's a 'star' style album; it has five 'pop up' pages. 

The black clip seen in the picture above is what's used to keep the album open when on display.

I kept the decorating of the album along the same lines as what I did for the 'Purebred Pets' album. The one major change I did is that I created pocket pages in this album which I did not include in the 'Purebred Pets' album.

There are several places throughout the album for storing photos, journaling, small mementos & keepsakes & several other memorabilia.

I used blue paper clips decorated with lace & red tulle for keeping the flaps included in this album closed.

The binding of the album is done by adhering each page to the other with hinges & in turn, creating large pockets. There are four pockets--inside each pocket there's a large tag measuring 7" x 7" inches.  Each tag is also a pocket itself--in essence there's a pocket inside a pocket if that makes any sense! :-) What I'm saying makes a whole lot more sense in the video walkthrough provided at the end of this post.

This album is a bit difficult to photograph--which is why I created a video walkthrough.

A 'Voyage' Folio Mini Album

For today's project, I've made a folio style mini album with the nautical themed 'Voyage' collection by Authentique.

 This folio mini album is available for sale in my Etsy shop, The Midnight Kraft Desk.

The folio measures 9" x 7" inches and has two 3/4" inch scored spines. The base of the folio is made with light weight chipboard. 

The mini album is held closed with a large belly band.  The belly band is decorated with a wooden dolphin embellishment & both fabric & felt flowers.

The inside of the folio consists of three parts. The two outside pages of the folios are decorated with a waterfall. The left hand is a vertical waterfall while the right hand is a horizontal waterfall. The waterfalls are held closed with a decorated paper clip. Both waterfalls are meant to store 4" x 6" inch photos with minimal cropping. 

There is a pocket page in the folio consisting of three angled pockets. Inside each pocket there are matted 4" x 3" inch cards.  There's also one large tag inside the largest pocket. The large tag measures  6" x 8" inches.

Each waterfall has four pages. The front of each waterfall page can hold 4" x 6" inch photos (no cropping necessary). The back of the vertical waterfall can hold photos measuring up to 4" x 5 1/2" inches. The back of the horizontal waterfall can hold photos measuring up to 3 1/2" x 6" inches.

The middle page of the folio has a double matted 3" x 4" inch card plus two matted 4" x 6" inch cards that flip open. 

On the back of each 4 1/4" x 6 1/4" inch photo mat a 4" x 6" inch photo (no cropping needed) can be stored.

This middle page flips open revealing a large 4" x 6" inch pocket with two tags. 

On the inside bottom of this middle page there are four matted 3" x 4" inch cards. 

Each card can be flipped open revealing a place to store photos measuring up to 3" x 4" inches--these additional photo mats can also be used as areas for journaling.

A 'Hooray' Sliding Panel Birthday Mini Album

Today's project is a birthday themed mini album made with the festive 'Hooray' collection by Authentique.  This mini album measures 7 1/4" x 5" inches & has a 2 3/4" inch spine.

The mini album was for sale in my Etsy shop, The Midnight Kraft Desk but has since sold. However, I can make this type of mini album in any theme.  If interested, feel free to reach out to me either via here or my Etsy shop.

I did not have the opportunity to create a tutorial for this project. If enough requests come in, I'll add this project to the list of tutorials that I can put together for the future.  At a minimum, I'll create a brief tutorial on how to create the pages used in this album.

I've created a large shaker on the cover of the album. As soon as I saw this collection, I knew I wanted to embed a shaker in my project.  At first, I was going to use the shaker as the spine of the album, but after some thought I decided to add it to the cover instead.

Each page in the album consists of a sliding panel on one side & a pocket on the other. 

The sliding panel keeps the photo mats underneath closed. The sliding panel can move from left to right & reveals a photo mat underneath each side. When the sliding panel completely moves to one side, the photo mat on the opposite side can then be opened.

On both the front & back covers there is a belly band.  Inside each belly band I've put a folded photo mat measuring 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" inches. These photo mats can hold up to 4 photos each measuring up to 4" x 5 1/4" inches.

Each photo mat underneath the sliding panel flips open revealing additional space for photos. These photo mats measure 4 1/4" x 3 1/4" inches and can store photos measuring up to 3" x 4" inches.

Each pocket page measures 7" x 4 1/2" inches. These pockets can easily fit 4" x 6" inch photos--no cropping necessary.

A 'Flawless' Cascading Mini Album

Happy Mother's Day everyone!  I hope you all are staying healthy & safe. Mother's Day took a whole new meaning for me some seven years ago with the birth of my son. Having him introduced me to the world of motherhood & let's just say that I finally understood many things about my own mom when I became a mom myself.

I'm fortunate to have my mom still with me.  She's in her early 80's and in relatively good health.  For my Mother's Day project, I've created another version of a cascading mini album. I've used the lovely 'Flawless' collection for my project.

This album is for sale in my Etsy shop, The Midnight Kraft Desk.

The album measures 5" x 3 3/4" inches with two 2" inch spines. I've decorated the outside of the album with a mini mushroom bird & fabric flowers.  The pink star organza flower is from my own stash. I still have a few of these flowers in different colors available for sale in my Etsy shop.  

The album is held closed with magnets.

The album consists of 10 pocket pages.  Each pocket page measures 4 3/4" x 3 1/4" inches. Inside each pocket there are photo mats measuring 4 1/2"x 3 1/2" inches. Each photo mat is decorated with a cut-apart from the collection.

I've further decorated the borders of every pocket with silver washi tape. The backs of each pocket were all decorated with the coordinating Spectrum card stock 'Tickled Pink'.

The pages are attached with an accordion binding to the album. 

The first pocket page is attached to the front cover of the album with magnets. All pages of the album can extend giving the album a cascading effect.

Here's a side view of the album. As shown, the accordion binding is not attached to the album itself.

This album would provide a unique way for storing pictures & journaling of mom or for mom. Below is a video walkthrough of the album.
