Christmas Through The Years Waterfall Mini Album

Today's post is about a long overdue project.  This mini was made last year around Christmas time & I just never got around to posting it.  So now since it's 'tis the season'--I'm circling back & finally posting this project.

I made this mini based on a tutorial I found on YouTube by Ginger, a.k.a My Sisters Scrapper.  You can find that tutorial here. Mini measures 3" x 4" inches so it's really cute & small.  You can store Instagram photos or wallet sized photos in it.

I think this little mini makes for fabulous last minute stocking stuffers.  It holds  a good amount of  photos & you can store & take this mini just about anywhere.  I'm using it to hold Christmas pictures of my son through the years.  As you can see, I've already included pictures from his 1st Christmas through his 3rd.  He's currently 4--so I'll be adding his 4th year Christmas photos soon.

I've used one of last year's Holiday themed paper collections by Authentique called 'Tidings' to make the mini & it's held closed with ribbon.

On the back of the mini I added a pocket & tucked in a couple of tags that can be used for journaling.

Supplies: Paper - Authentique, Embellishments/Tags - Authentique, Punches - Stampin' Up, We R Memory Keepers, Other - Ribbon, Tinsel Trim, Mulberry Paper Flowers, Leaf Spray

Thanks for stopping by & enjoy the rest of the week!

The Magic of The Season Layout

Today's post is a page highlighting both a fabulous template created by The Nifty Pixel & one of Authentique's latest Holiday themed collections: Classic Christmas

This is my little guy for last years Christmas photo shoot.  We have yet to do this years.  So I'm sure I'll be scrapping this year's photos NEXT year.  :-)  I always seem to be a year behind in my scrapbooking, but hey--at least it's getting done.

As previously mentioned, the design of my page is based on one of five templates created by The Nifty Pixel titled Chevvie Delight.  These templates are meant more for the digital scrapper but as you can see they can also be used for traditional scrapbooking.  I'm all about paper & I can't seem to jump on the digital trend of scrapbooking. I've done a few hybrid layouts--but my passion is still good ol' fashioned paper!  You can find more info about these templates here.

I added a few pops of color to my page with bright red fabric star flowers.  These flowers are from my own stash & can be found in a few more colors in my Etsy shop.  If interested, click here to take a look.

The mini gift boxes & Christmas balls are actually ornaments that I found at my local Michaels.  They're meant for those mini Christmas trees but I found that many of those mini ornaments make for great embellishments for layouts as well.

Too add more flair to my background, I've splattered some mists in both red & black colors.

Supplies: Paper - Authentique, Flowers - Manor House, The Kreative Korner, Flair Buttons - Recollections, Mists - Ranger, Heidi Swapp, Embellishments - Michaels, Authentique

Thanks for stopping by & enjoy the upcoming weekend!

Halloween Layout

Today's post is befitting since Halloween is this coming Monday.  This page is long overdue since it displays a photo of my little guy dressed up as a scarecrow taken last Halloween.  I seem to be a year behind on all of photo scrapping!  But the lack of time in my day leaves me with no choice.  Better late than never I always say...

This costume was especially significant for me since it was my very first attempt at creating a homemade costume.  I wanted something different, not store bought & all us crafters know that if you want something unique then handmade it the way to go!  So I took a pair of his old overalls & altered it by adhering random squares of fall themed fabric patches on it along with natural colored rafetta to simulate the 'hay' coming out of his pockets and pant legs.  I opted to not put any makeup on him since he'd rub that off in about 3 seconds after it being applied.  The whole look came together with a burlap hat decorated with fall leaves & some more natural rafetta.  He ended up being the only scarecrow that I saw that one Halloween & we received several comments on his costume.  I was pleased with my little creation & patted myself on the back!  :-)  Not bad for my very first try I think!

For this page I've used paper from Authentique's 'Mysterious' collection & the design is based on a sketch by The Nifty Pixel.

The sketch used is part of a collection of digital templates by The Nifty Pixel.  To find out more information on these templates feel free to check it out here.  The Nifty Pixel also released a couple of Halloween themed digital packs appropriately named 'Trickery'.  My layout is a hybrid page meaning that I printed some elements from the 'Trickery' digital pack & used them on my page.  So these packs can be used for both digital pages or to add unique flair to traditional pages.

In the background of my page I randomly added sequins & bling in different colors to add a bit of shimmer & glimmer to my page.  :-)

All of the flowers used on this page are by Petaloo.

Supplies: Paper - Authentique, Embellishments - Authentique, The Nifty Pixel, Flowers - Petaloo, Other - Sequins, Rhinestones.

Thanks for stopping by & have a happy & safe Halloween!

Life is Ruff Layout

Good afternoon fellow scrappers!  Today's post is a page that was created for The Nifty Pixel.  This page is based on one of the July Page Drafts sketches release titled: Tucked In V.1.

Here I am with what I like to call my 'eldest son'.  :-)  This is me taking selfies with my pup Toby.  He's my faithful companion & little shadow.  He's all about the photography as well.  I've been taking photos of him since he was 12 weeks old which is when we got him.  So he's a total ham when it comes to taking selfies.

Here's the July Page Drafts release.  Click on this link to find out more info on these versatile sketches.

The background of my page was made with a combination of stamping, masking, ink splatters & by randomly adhering red & blue sequins.  Papers used is from the 'Felicity' collection by Authentique.

I've used my favorite method of journaling which is by storing my thoughts on a small scroll that also serves as a unique embellishment on my page.

I've used a couple of Prima stamps to create the faux stitching along the borders of my page.

I've made a brief tutorial on how I go about making these scrolls.  If interested you can find that tutorial here.

To add some dimension to my page I've adhered several of the embellishments with dimensional foam and/or pop dots.  I've always been a fan of adding a bit of dimension to my layouts.

Supplies: Paper - Authentique, Flowers - Prima, I Am Roses, Flair - Panda Eight Designs, Stamps: Prima Marketing, Masks: Prima Marketing, Mists: Heidi Swapp, Other - Sequins, Glitter Tape, Polaroid Frame, Black Doilies

Thanks for stopping by & have a great weekend!

Baby Girl Flip & Fold Mini Album

Today's project is a small one but packs a big punch.  This fold out mini album measures 4" x 3" inches but can hold up to 9-10 wallet sized 2" x 3" inch photos.  I've used the 'Cuddle: Girl' collection by Authentique.

I found a tutorial on YouTube for making this type of mini.  You can find the tutorial here.  It's in French & I've also changed it up a bit--but this is what I used for my inspiration.

I've created two minis in this style both utilizing papers from the same collection.  One was given to a friend & the other is currently for sale in my Etsy shop 'The Kraft Nook'--if interested, feel free to visit my shop here.

In addition to using the papers from the 'Cuddle: Girl' collection, I've also used life cards that come with the collection.  I trimmed them down just a bit & used them to mat several pages in this mini.

In the center of the mini I've created two pockets holding two tags each.  These can be used for journaling or for writing down dates/thoughts and/or sentiments.

Supplies: Paper - Authentique

Since it's a bit hard to fully photograph this mini, I've created a video showcasing how the mini folds out.  Enjoy!

1st Day of School Layout

Good morning fellow crafters!  Today's page is one that I made for The Nifty Pixel.  I've used one of these fabulous sketches from the 'Passport to the World' collection to document my son's first day of school.  Well technically, it's a hybrid version of school.  He's only 3 so he's in a 'Preppers' class where they're pretty much 'preparing' him for pre-school--hence the name 'Preppers'.  He started just this past January & as you can see from this photo...he was ready!  No tears, no pouting, no crying or tantrums.  He was actually the opposite, very excited about starting something new in his life.  :-)  Now almost 5 months later, he's thoroughly enjoying it, loves to learn & has made lots of new little friends.

Papers used for this layout is the 'Studious' collection by Authentique.  It's a school themed paper which went along perfectly with my son's first day of school photo.

You can find more details about these sketches & on how to purchase these digital templates on The Nifty Pixel blog here

As is customary with my pages, I've given many of my embellishments a bit of dimension by adhering them with pop dots or dimensional foam tape.

The floral cluster is a combination of mulberry paper, fabric & burlap flowers.  I enjoy using burlap flowers on masculine pages.  It's a way to incorporate flowers on a masculine themed project without making it too 'girly'.  It also helps to tone down a page.  I may still sneak in a more feminine flower here n' there--but the burlap flower helps keep the 'rustic' theme that I'm looking for.

I've written my journaling/thoughts onto this tag which I've stored into this mini kraft bag.

Supplies: Paper - Authentique, Die - Cheery Lynn Designs, Doily - Michaels, Flowers - The Kreative Korner, I Am Roses, Michaels, Embellishments - Tim Holtz, Authentique, Other - Mini Kraft Bag, Tulle

Thanks for stopping by & enjoy the rest of your week.

Baby Boy & Girl Accordion Zig Zag Mini Albums with Tutorial

Today's mini is a DT project I made for Authentique.  I've used the 'Cuddle' collection both Boy & Girl for these minis.  I created the Baby Girl mini first & loved the simplicity of it so much that I created one for my own little guy--and that's how I ended up with the 'twin' minis.  :-)

The mini albums measure  5 3/4" inches by 2 3/4" inches & have a 3/8" inch spine. The inside is composed of zig zag accordion style pages that can hold up to 11 wallet size photos (3" x 2" inch photos). There are two pockets within the mini along with 2 tags in each pocket for journaling purposes.

For my mini, I've included photos of my son from his first year only.  So they are mostly baby pictures of him.

The covers of the mini are made from heavy weight 110 lbs black card stock.  It's an alternative to thin chipboard & I prefer it for this type of small mini.  The covers are still sturdy & I don't have to take out the rotary cutter since I can cut the card stock right on my regular paper trimmer.

I've decorated the cover with a mini flocked teddy bear, fabric flower, heart shaped rhinestone & a small spray of mulberry paper flowers.  The sentiment is part of the sticker sheet from the 'Cuddle' collection.

Here's the girl version.  I've kept the decoration on the cover pretty much the same for both minis.

The Baby Girl mini is for sale in my Etsy shop, 'The Kraft Nook'.  If interested feel free to visit my shop.

Below you'll find the video tutorial I made for this mini.  It's a fairly simple album to make & makes for a quick gift or keepsake.

Enjoy!
