The Magic of The Season Layout

Today's post is a page highlighting both a fabulous template created by The Nifty Pixel & one of Authentique's latest Holiday themed collections: Classic Christmas

This is my little guy for last years Christmas photo shoot.  We have yet to do this years.  So I'm sure I'll be scrapping this year's photos NEXT year.  :-)  I always seem to be a year behind in my scrapbooking, but hey--at least it's getting done.

As previously mentioned, the design of my page is based on one of five templates created by The Nifty Pixel titled Chevvie Delight.  These templates are meant more for the digital scrapper but as you can see they can also be used for traditional scrapbooking.  I'm all about paper & I can't seem to jump on the digital trend of scrapbooking. I've done a few hybrid layouts--but my passion is still good ol' fashioned paper!  You can find more info about these templates here.

I added a few pops of color to my page with bright red fabric star flowers.  These flowers are from my own stash & can be found in a few more colors in my Etsy shop.  If interested, click here to take a look.

The mini gift boxes & Christmas balls are actually ornaments that I found at my local Michaels.  They're meant for those mini Christmas trees but I found that many of those mini ornaments make for great embellishments for layouts as well.

Too add more flair to my background, I've splattered some mists in both red & black colors.

Supplies: Paper - Authentique, Flowers - Manor House, The Kreative Korner, Flair Buttons - Recollections, Mists - Ranger, Heidi Swapp, Embellishments - Michaels, Authentique

Thanks for stopping by & enjoy the upcoming weekend!

Halloween Layout

Today's post is befitting since Halloween is this coming Monday.  This page is long overdue since it displays a photo of my little guy dressed up as a scarecrow taken last Halloween.  I seem to be a year behind on all of photo scrapping!  But the lack of time in my day leaves me with no choice.  Better late than never I always say...

This costume was especially significant for me since it was my very first attempt at creating a homemade costume.  I wanted something different, not store bought & all us crafters know that if you want something unique then handmade it the way to go!  So I took a pair of his old overalls & altered it by adhering random squares of fall themed fabric patches on it along with natural colored rafetta to simulate the 'hay' coming out of his pockets and pant legs.  I opted to not put any makeup on him since he'd rub that off in about 3 seconds after it being applied.  The whole look came together with a burlap hat decorated with fall leaves & some more natural rafetta.  He ended up being the only scarecrow that I saw that one Halloween & we received several comments on his costume.  I was pleased with my little creation & patted myself on the back!  :-)  Not bad for my very first try I think!

For this page I've used paper from Authentique's 'Mysterious' collection & the design is based on a sketch by The Nifty Pixel.

The sketch used is part of a collection of digital templates by The Nifty Pixel.  To find out more information on these templates feel free to check it out here.  The Nifty Pixel also released a couple of Halloween themed digital packs appropriately named 'Trickery'.  My layout is a hybrid page meaning that I printed some elements from the 'Trickery' digital pack & used them on my page.  So these packs can be used for both digital pages or to add unique flair to traditional pages.

In the background of my page I randomly added sequins & bling in different colors to add a bit of shimmer & glimmer to my page.  :-)

All of the flowers used on this page are by Petaloo.

Supplies: Paper - Authentique, Embellishments - Authentique, The Nifty Pixel, Flowers - Petaloo, Other - Sequins, Rhinestones.

Thanks for stopping by & have a happy & safe Halloween!

Life is Ruff Layout

Good afternoon fellow scrappers!  Today's post is a page that was created for The Nifty Pixel.  This page is based on one of the July Page Drafts sketches release titled: Tucked In V.1.

Here I am with what I like to call my 'eldest son'.  :-)  This is me taking selfies with my pup Toby.  He's my faithful companion & little shadow.  He's all about the photography as well.  I've been taking photos of him since he was 12 weeks old which is when we got him.  So he's a total ham when it comes to taking selfies.

Here's the July Page Drafts release.  Click on this link to find out more info on these versatile sketches.

The background of my page was made with a combination of stamping, masking, ink splatters & by randomly adhering red & blue sequins.  Papers used is from the 'Felicity' collection by Authentique.

I've used my favorite method of journaling which is by storing my thoughts on a small scroll that also serves as a unique embellishment on my page.

I've used a couple of Prima stamps to create the faux stitching along the borders of my page.

I've made a brief tutorial on how I go about making these scrolls.  If interested you can find that tutorial here.

To add some dimension to my page I've adhered several of the embellishments with dimensional foam and/or pop dots.  I've always been a fan of adding a bit of dimension to my layouts.

Supplies: Paper - Authentique, Flowers - Prima, I Am Roses, Flair - Panda Eight Designs, Stamps: Prima Marketing, Masks: Prima Marketing, Mists: Heidi Swapp, Other - Sequins, Glitter Tape, Polaroid Frame, Black Doilies

Thanks for stopping by & have a great weekend!

1st Day of School Layout

Good morning fellow crafters!  Today's page is one that I made for The Nifty Pixel.  I've used one of these fabulous sketches from the 'Passport to the World' collection to document my son's first day of school.  Well technically, it's a hybrid version of school.  He's only 3 so he's in a 'Preppers' class where they're pretty much 'preparing' him for pre-school--hence the name 'Preppers'.  He started just this past January & as you can see from this photo...he was ready!  No tears, no pouting, no crying or tantrums.  He was actually the opposite, very excited about starting something new in his life.  :-)  Now almost 5 months later, he's thoroughly enjoying it, loves to learn & has made lots of new little friends.

Papers used for this layout is the 'Studious' collection by Authentique.  It's a school themed paper which went along perfectly with my son's first day of school photo.

You can find more details about these sketches & on how to purchase these digital templates on The Nifty Pixel blog here

As is customary with my pages, I've given many of my embellishments a bit of dimension by adhering them with pop dots or dimensional foam tape.

The floral cluster is a combination of mulberry paper, fabric & burlap flowers.  I enjoy using burlap flowers on masculine pages.  It's a way to incorporate flowers on a masculine themed project without making it too 'girly'.  It also helps to tone down a page.  I may still sneak in a more feminine flower here n' there--but the burlap flower helps keep the 'rustic' theme that I'm looking for.

I've written my journaling/thoughts onto this tag which I've stored into this mini kraft bag.

Dream Big Layout

Today I'm sharing a page I made a few months ago & have not posted till now.  It's been a rough Winter health wise for me this year.  I've been sick on & off for the past month or so.  Not sure what crazy bug is going around--but it's not a pretty one!  I can finally say that I'm recovering after three different rounds of antibiotics...phew!

So, this would be my little guy celebrating his 3rd birthday just this past November.  Time is flying by way too fast for my liking.  He's getting so big & developing an even bigger personality to go along with him.  :-)

I've mostly used papers by Authentique & the design of my page is based on a sketch by The Nifty Pixel.

Here's the sketch by The Nifty Pixel that I've used as the design for my page.  The link will take you directly to the 'Life of Pie' projects & will show case several other 'pie' themed sketches & the design teams interpretations of these fabulous sketches.

I made the circle embellishments with the use of some leftover scraps.  I made them uneven on purpose.  These are one of those elements where the more uneven they are, the better they look.

Paper clips.  Now that's something I wouldn't have thought would make a nice random embellishment...but as you can see here--I've inserted one in between my circles & it actually works!

One of my trademarks on layouts is to use a combination of several different random bits & bobs.  I've used a combination of all sorts of flowers, from burlap to felt--chipboard elements, arrows, epoxy stickers & one mini felt teddy bear.

Supplies: Paper - Authentique, Random Left Over Scraps, Flowers - The Felt Shoppe, I Am Roses, The Kreative Korner, Embellishments - Prima, Tim Holtz, Arrow Paper Clip - Freckled Fawn, Other - Mini Felt Teddy Bear, String, Paper Clip, Wooden Banner, Burlap Flower

Thanks for stopping by & enjoy the rest of the week!

Jingle All The Way Layout

Good afternoon crafters!  I hope everybody is having a fabulous start to 2016!  I know that my last 2 weeks in December were exactly how I wanted them to be--peaceful & quiet!

Today's post is a page I created for both Berry71Bleu & The Nifty Pixel.  This was my last project for Berry71Bleu.  After being on their DT for 3 years, I've decided to step down.  It's a wonderful DT & I enjoyed my time there & am grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of such a fabulous team!

This layout features my little guy giving me one of my favorite Christmas themed poses up to date.  He's such a ham & loves to take pictures.  The photographers always have a field day with him since he seems to pose in whichever way they ask him to & holding whatever prop they give him.  I went with the traditional red & green Christmas colors for this page with splashes of gold here & there.

The design of my page is based on a sketch by The Nifty Pixel.  Further down I have a photo showcasing how I've included a digital element from the Berry & Fawn collection by The Nifty Pixel onto my page--in turn creating a 'hybrid' page.

I found these mini spools at my local Michaels during Christmas time & bought them with the idea that they'd make really unique embellishments on a Christmas themed page--and I was right!  I just rolled some twine onto this mini spool & spread the twine randomly across my page to give it a small 3D effect on my layout.

In this photo you can see the red deer which is a digital element that I've printed, cut out & used on my page.  This deer is part of the 'Berry & Fawn' digital collection by The Nifty Pixel.

I've stored my journaling in this scroll which has by far, become my favorite way of storing my journaling onto my pages. You can find a brief tutorial on how I create these scrolls right here.

Supplies: Paper - Authentique, Digital Elements - The Nifty Pixel, Flowers - Manor House, The Kreative Korner, Chipboard - Um Wow Studio, Other - Gold Doily, Mini Gift Box, Mini Pine Cone Spray, Spiral Clips, Spiral Sequin Spray, Mini Spool, Twine

Winter Memories Layout Berry71Bleu November Challenge

Good morning fellow scrappers!  Today's post was my project for November's Berry71Bleu challenge.  November's challenge is currently over, but the December challenge is up & running!  So make sure to check it out for a chance to win some crafty goodies!

November's challenge was a vintage themed challenge.  The DT had the opportunity to work with papers from our primary sponsor for the month of November which was Riddersholm Designs.  I received Christmas themed papers which already had a vintage feel to them--so the papers did most of the work for me!  :-) The papers I used were from Riddersholm's 'Christmas Cosy' collection.

I chose a recent photo of my son for this layout.  It's a winter themed page & therefore this photo of my son posing with a snowy pine tree behind him worked out just right for this project.

My little guy is growing up right before my eyes.  I honestly have issues realizing sometimes how Father Time has turned my little wiggly bundle of joy into this active toddler--a little man in training as I say to myself on most days.

Once again I took inspiration for the design of my page from a sketch by The Nifty Pixel.  I haven't officially announced this on my blog yet--but as of October 2015 I've been part of The Nifty Pixel design team!  Woo-Hoo!!  Am quite happy to have joined this fabulous group of ladies.  I'm certainly a big fan of these sketches & it's no secret that I thoroughly enjoy working with them.

I kept the embellishments used on my page simple for the most part.  I dug through my stash for items that were more on the Winter theme rather than Christmas while keeping it as masculine as I could without getting too 'girly'.  With only men to primarily scrap--I've gotten pretty good at masculine themed projects.  :-)

I had these mini bottle brush trees in my stash.  I trimmed the bottoms & tucked them behind my cluster of embellishments.

Supplies: Paper - Riddersholm Designs, Embellishments - Recollections, Chipboard - Um Wow Studio, Flairs - Recollections, Flowers - Recollections, The Kreative Korner
